Susana Gil Sayas
Research Engineer
Susana is a Research Engineer in vehicle energy working at the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission. Currently completing her PhD in engineering, she combines scientific rigor with a strong commitment to sustainability and policy impact.
Her work sits at the crossroads of transport, climate policy, and energy efficiency. Susana develops simulation models, analyses experimental data on vehicle HVAC systems, and translates technical findings into policy-relevant insights. Her research contributes to scientific publications as well as European Commission reports, supporting evidence-based decision-making.
With a background in Chemical Engineering and Environmental Engineering, Susana brings expertise in vehicle energy efficiency, electrified powertrains, and climate impact analysis. She believes engineering is a powerful tool to improve life on our planet and approaches her work with a strong sense of environmental responsibility.
Originally from Spain and now based in the Italian pre-alpine town of Ispra, Susana finds inspiration in nature and community life. She enjoys the mountains, yoga, book clubs, concerts, and exploring mindful, sustainable ways of living, reflecting her belief that sustainability is both a personal and collective commitment.
